Finding Home: From California to Oregon
A note about the film:
My movie is the life story of Javier Magallanes and his journey from southern California to Oregon. When Javier was a child, he entered the foster care system and was eventually adopted by a Latino family, who subsequently relocated to Yachats, Oregon.
Javier’s narrative touches on issues of violence, childhood hunger, migration, and feeling minoritized. Despite these challenges and through perseverance and hard work, Javier has created a beautiful life for himself that he is proud of. Although his journey is not over, he continues to work toward the goal of being a creative professional.
By sharing this story, I hope to show that it is possible to overcome hardship and create opportunities for oneself.
