Edgar Ortega: United States Marine

A note about the film:

I choose to do an oral history interview with a friend of mine named Edgar Ortega. His story is about his sense of belonging and brotherhood within the Latino community and also within the military community.

His main message is that community and family connect you in a world that otherwise might have a disconnect. He takes a lot of pride in his daughter and his work within the Veterans Family and Student Association.

I feel that this story had a close tie within my own understanding of the VFSA and the importance of family to tie people together. This idea is that it isn’t always your blood that connects you with a family, but how having a community can bind you to a positive outlook on life.
